A little about me: I’m a fourth year Neuroscience major/English minor pre-Medical student at UT Austin. I plan on attending Medical School and becoming a neurosurgeon. I am a Delta Gamma, a cellist, cycling instructor, and an EMT. My passion for biking began with my father, a frequent Marathoner and Iron Man participant, who instilled his competitive and athletic drive in me as I grew up and he helped me train for running and biking races of my own. My parents have always been my biggest fans, supporting my endeavors always encouraging me to pursue my dreams, from music to biking from Texas to Alaska.
I ride for those who can’t. Pursing a career in the medical field, I have seen the toll cancer can take on patients and their families, not just as a biological phenomenon, but spiritually and emotionally; it affects every level of our existence. I want to ride for my great aunt who recently passed after bravely battling leukemia for years, and for my grandfather, grandmother, and aunt who have all battled cancer. Through the years I worked at a local retirement center I came to know many wonderful residents experiencing or who passed away from cancer and I would like to ride for them and their families as well.
I have always sought to serve cancer patients and their families in any capacity, but especially by supporting research to fight for a cure, so I am very passionate about the opportunity Texas 4000 offers and it is a privilege to be a part of such an extraordinary group of riders. Years working in a retirement community and my experience serving patients as an EMT taught me the importance of meeting people where they are at, no matter how deep the trench. It is truly beautiful to witness riders from all walks of life come together on behalf of others and uproot their lives to embark on such a huge journey.
Compassion is the cornerstone of my personal mission and I ride not only to share benevolence, but spread hope to others. I am excited knowing that over the course of this journey the reasons why I ride will continue to grow and the people I am riding for and their families may find a little hope knowing I am fighting with them.
Please reach out to me about ANYBODY you'd like me to ride for, I genuinely would be honored to and would love to hear how that person has touched your life! Let's ride!!
