In summer 2019, I will embark on a journey from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK with a team of driven individuals from UT Austin. Along the three routes, we will spread cancer awareness and prevention to communities in need of support. We are raising funds to impact cancer research organizations searching for cures to cancer all across the country.
Why Texas 4000? T4K is an organization that uses the pillars of charity, knowledge and hope to develop leaders and to help improve the lives of those in our community. I strongly believe in the mission T4K stands behind and want to be a part of living out that mission.
Cancer has a way of reaching out and touching just about everyone. I am participating in the 2019 Texas 4000 Team because I want to help unite our communities through inspiring hope in the lives of others and spreading knowledge about cancer and how to live proactively to minimize your risks of getting cancer.
I ride for many reasons. I ride for the friends and family that I know have been affected by cancer. I ride for my Aunt Joan who lost her battle with lung cancer this past year. I ride for my grandmother, who doesn't like to talk about her experience of surviving breast cancer. I ride for my friend Bailey who taught me about what it means to be dedicated to a cause and how to always be positive even in darkness. He lost his fight with multiple myeloma in October 2017. I ride for my boyfriend, Ron, who teaches me to live every day with love and appreciation. I ride for all the people I have met who are fighting and helping others battle Multiple Sclerosis - I rode for them during the MS150 and I will continue to ride for them. And lastly, I ride for strangers, people I have yet to meet. T4K is a journey that many have made before me and hopefully many after me will follow. T4K is a promise that I make to myself and to others.
With your help, we can change the lives of many individuals and keep hope in those battling cancer in this very moment. Every donation is appreciated. Thank you for spreading your generosity and kindness.
